A few people who are using a printer all of a sudden cannot preview reports. In order for the Reporter to even preview a report it requires a printer driver to tell it how to format the report preview. We can troubleshoot by setting the default printer to another one and then back to the primary printer to “wake up” the connection, so to speak.

To get the Control Panel:

Navigating Windows 8 can be confusing, but this usually works.
On the keyboard press Windows key + I.

Click on Control Panel.

Click on View devices and printers.

Notice the proper (default) printer has a checkmark by it.

Right-click any printer or device other than the default.
Select Set as default printer from the menu.

Now right-click the proper default printer and reset it back to default.
Select Set as default printer from the menu.

Close the Devices and Printers screen. You ought to be able to preview or print a report in the Reporter.
